About Me

Hi there!  My name is Julie Cronkhite and this is my 18th year in public education.  I am the Principal of K-5 elementary school that has around 675 students. I love what I do and have the best staff on the planet.  I have taught Kindergarten, First Grade, Second Grade, and was a K-5 interventionist in both Reading and Math subject areas.  I strive to be a servant leader in all that I do.  I believe teachers have the hardest job out there and I what I do to support, motivate, and improve the craft of teaching for all of my teachers.  If any of you need some advise I would love to help you out.  I have the opportunity and challenge of making an impact on all the students and staff at my school.
I graduated in 1998 from Texas State University.  When I went to school there it was called South West Texas State University.  I obtained my Master's Degree in Educational Administration through Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas.
After a hard day's work, I have a great family to come home to.  My husband Jason and I have been married for almost 17 years.  We have two children, Kendall and Connor.  Kendall will be in the 6th Grade and she loves to read and do gymnastics.  Connor is 7 and will be in 1st Grade this year.  Please pray for his teacher!
I always laugh when people ask what I like to do in my spare time.  As educators, I really don't think that exists.  I love to read and I jam it in whenever I do find time.  I love hanging out with a bowl of popcorn, my kids by my side, wrapped in a blankie and watch a movie.  I also am deeply passionate about my job.  I love to make things on the computer, research best practices, and pin away on pinterest.
I am new to blogging and feel like I just stepped into a kindergarten classroom for the first time.  Thank goodness I have amazing teacher friends that can help out.  I am very excited to meet new colleagues and share what works for students and teachers and get lots of new ideas.
